Bi Cymru/Wales and the local groups in Swansea and Cardiff have had a busy couple of months writes Ele.

After a successful stall at Cardiff Mardi Gras at the end of August we held a Have Your Say event for Bi Visibility Day, supported by Swansea Council and South Wales Police with a social in Pulse Swansea. Around 20 people turned up to discuss bisexual aspects of issues such as hate crime; health and social care; education; and employment, all based on experiences and research in The Bisexuality Report.
We’ll be writing up comments and recommendations from the event soon.

BiFest Wales on 5th October was a small affair with 28 people but well received. It included workshops on: biphobic hate crime in Wales; bisexual inclusion in Cardiff Mardi Gras; Older LGBT issues; and coming out.  There was also fun and games, ‘fitting and misfitting’, speed friending and social and craft space followed by a DJ in the evening.

Swansea YMCA supported and hosted the event, making it possible and greatly reducing our costs.

We’re planning to move BiFest Wales 2014 back to the same time of year it used to be, on 10th or 17th May, as the LGBT calendar in Swansea is event heavy towards the end of the year with Swansea Sparkle coming up on 16th November, where Bi Cymru/Wales will be having another stall and speaking about support between the bi and trans communities in Wales.
