Celebrating five years of the Leicester annual bi get-together

Congratulations and thank you to everyone who has come along, contributed to and enjoyed Big Bi Fun Day over the past 5 years. It’s been a pleasure to watch everybody relaxing and having fun – making it utterly worthwhile as an organiser.

When I first started Big Bi Fun Day, it was in response to discussions across the bisexual community about having child-friendly bi spaces and stress-free events for organisers.  Since then, it’s proven to be something that people want and need.

Based on feedback from attendees, verbal and written, it is a fun, relaxing event where people are able to catch up with friends.  Children come along and it’s definitely child-friendly with a wonderful garden and spacious building.   There are between 30-60 attendees each year who bring food and games with them.

It’s nowhere near as stressful as running a BiCon or BiFest and relatively easy to organise.   Where it could do with some more help from attendees is in letting other people know about Big Bi Fun Day.  If you run a bi event or group, let them know about Big Bi Fun Day.  If you like it, they might too.

There is no entry cost but thanks to generous donations from attendees, it always at least breaks even.  This year, there was even enough surplus to pay for the room booking for next year. We’ve been fortunate with the weather each Big Bi Fun Day and I hope that we continue to have that luck in 2015.

Speaking of the future, although I no longer live in Leicester, I will still run it if you want it.  I’ve booked the venue for Saturday 16th May 2015, 1pm till 5pm.

Here’s to 5 years of Big Bi Fun Day and to the future!
