Shout for your fave bi event
ShoutOut radio (the local LGBT radio show for Bristol and that corner of England but listenable online wherever you are) know there are loads of people who put a lot of hard work into LGBT causes, quite often with little recompense.
So for the last two years they have run the ShoutOut awards, nominated and voted on by members of LGBT communities, a chance to tell to tell ShoutOut who you think deserves that bit of recognition for the work they do.
However – as we reported a year ago – the 2013 awards had their bi category dropped after the nomination phase.
Only one bi event – the meets of the local bi group BiVisible – had actually been nominated. A second round of voting for which your favourite is out of a list of only one thing went against their plans for the awards, so the bi category got binned for the year.
So ShoutOut would like BCN readers’ help this year with the Bi Event category, which they’ve changed the name of this year to “Best Event for Bi People”, allowing for the possibility that there might be events that are run for a wider audience but are actually particularly great for bi people.
The nominations stage finishes at the end of December. The top five in each category will then be voted on in the new year. Now is the time to get nominations in for bi and bi-engaging events (like Bi Visibility Day, BiFest, BiCon and such) so that come the start of February ShoutOut can announce someone or something the winner of a well-earned award.
