Sheffield’s Proud Bis
Want to meet up, march and hang out with other bi folk? Meet at 11.30am outside Firth Court and look for the big bi flag.
The Pride organisers outline the day they have lined up – centred around the University Student Union buildings:
There will be three main sections to the day – a daytime event from midday till 5pm; an evening event from 8pm onward and the after party from 11pm. Entry for the day and evening events is £3 (and if you’re coming to both, you won’t need to pay twice) and the after party is £6.
This year we also have a free family area with live performances throughout the afternoon from local bands and artists alongside activities and loads to do for young and old alike sponsored by the University of Sheffield. The rest of the event will host more live performances from local and not-so-local artists (with a few famous names thrown in), a marketplace expo, DJs, poetry, activities, a courtyard party, great deals on food and drink and a ton of other stuff going on.
In between the day and evening events there will be screenings of LGBT-themed movies (we’ll announce the titles closer to the date) in the Students’ Union Auditorium (between 5pm and 8pm). A candlelit vigil will take place outside on the concourse at 8.30pm in conjunction with the Centre for HIV featuring some soul-searching performances and talks giving people the opportunity to spend a few moments thinking of the victims of HIV, Homophobia and Transphobia here and around the world, today and in the past.
The performance areas kick off again from 9pm – you can take your pick between Caberet, Drag and some unique vocalists, or Dancing and DJs through till 1am. From 11pm the day will culminate in a massive after party – with dancers, flames, neon, glitter and a super special headline performance partying through with you until 3.30am.
