Scottish General Synod moves on marriage

bi_doThe General Synod of the Scottish Episcopal Church has made the first moves toward acknowledging and supporting same-sex marriages.

Same-sex marriage became legal in Scotland at the end of 2014, and if the change makes its way through all the stages of reform of canon law required it will be 2017 before the Episcopal Church conducts its first same-sex weddings.

As well as allowing their churches to conduct weddings the proposals would also allow members of the Episcopalian clergy to enter same-sex marriages.
