The Office for National Statistics has published this year’s figures on the proportion of the population who are bisexual, lesbian, or gay, broken down to Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and regions of England.

0.5% of adults identified as bisexual – but with a marked gender skew, with that being the answer of 0.7% of women and 0.3% of men.

0.7% of Londoners identified as bisexual, compared to 1.9% as gay or lesbian. 89% identified as heterosexual – so LGB identifying respondents are outnumbered greatly by those who don’t know, identify as ‘other’, or won’t say.

The main findings note that “around 2.6% of adults aged 16 to 24 years identified themselves as lesbian, gay or bisexual. This decreased to 0.6% of adults aged 65 and over.”
