Ministerial Support for Bi Vis Day
For the fourth year running, Bi Visibility Day has been noted at ministerial level here in the UK.
Justine Greening MP, minister for Women and Equalities, had her support published via the Government Equalities Office this morning, here on facebook.
The message notes,
“Bi Visibility Day is a great opportunity to celebrate our diversity – and an important reminder that we must keep pushing for true equality”.
Greening came out about being in a same-sex relationship earlier this year but has not publicly linked herself to either bi or gay labels.
The date was first acknowledged at government level in the UK in 2013 by Jo Swinson MP, who was then LGBT minister during the Conservative-Lib Dem coalition. Following the change of government in 2015 the practice has been picked up by Conservative members.
