Trans Day of Remembrance Events UK
November 20th is Transgender Day of Remembrance. This year that falls on a Sunday, so most events to mark it are on the 20th itself.
The date gives us space to remember those who have been killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. The event is held in November to honour Rita Hester, whose murder in November 1998 kicked off the “Remembering Our Dead” web project and a candlelight vigil in San Francisco in 1999.
Event venues and times include:
On Sunday Nov 20th: Manchester, Sackville Gardens, from 4.30pm, organised by Sparkle.
Also Nov 20th: Soverign Square, Leeds, from 8pm. Followed by procession to Wharf Chambers.
Also from 4pm at Salisbury United Reformed Church, 30 Fisherton Street, Salisbury
And on the same day at the Centenary Building at University of London, Spencer St from 5pm, organised by Stonewall Housing
And at Trooper Potts Memorial, Forbury Gardens, Reading from 7.30pm the day before (Nov 19th) organised by Reading Pride.
