Your Bi Diary: Into April

It’s a new bisexual week in our calendar of bi events – and a new month. Welcome to April! Here are a smattering of opportunities to make new bi friends around the UK this week.

On Tuesday 4th there are two talky-space type meetings in community centres. It’s Manchester BiPhoria at the LGBT Foundation on Richmond Street at 7.30pm. Their web page tells you a bit about what to expect, here.

Alternatively that night in Glasgow it’s the local bi meet at the THT centre, 134 Douglas Street, from 7pm, organised by BiScotland.

Come Wednesday it’s Edinburgh Bi & Beyond. As usual they will be meeting at the LGBT Centre for Health and Wellbeing, 9 Howe St from 7pm to 9pm.

Thursday is the turn of Bi Cymru’s regular bi meet in Cardiff. Cardiff group’s meeting starts at 6.30pm – at the Quaker Meeting House, 43 Charles Street.

Friday night as usual is Bi Boardgaming for Birmingham. Meet from 630pm at Cakes and Ladders, Holloway circus. Look for the purple unicorn.

And Saturday it’s London BiFest in Kingston-upon-Thames all day, and Bury LGBT Pride with a bi stall in the town hall. Note that Brighton‘s bi coffee meetup is cancelled this month.

Never been to a bi group before?

  • For the coffee type meetups – we don’t have any of those lined up this week! – try Hannah’s guide here. They’re usually good for sociable chat but can be more of a challenge if you have a lot on your mind or find busy places challenging.
  • Gaming meetups like that in Birmingham are good for gamers and making casual acquaintance friends, but serious bi talk is tricky while you work out which move your character should make next.
  • For the talky space meetups – like Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow or Edinburgh, held in community centre spaces – there’s Jen’s guide here. They tend to be more social-support than plain social meets.
