Bi Diary 5-11 Feb 2018
Welcome to our weekly roundup of what’s on in Bi Britain.
Tuesday is Manchester’s bi talky space meeting BiPhoria, at the LGBT Foundation, 5 Richmond Street, from 730pm. More about BiPhoria here. It’s also Glasgow bisexual group at THT, 134 Douglas Street, Glasgow G2 4HF (beside Nando’s in Sauchiehall St).
Wednesday it’s the turn of Edinburgh bis with their meetup 7pm-9pm at the LGBT Centre at 9 Howe Street.
Thursday is the Nottingham BiTopia pub meetup from 7pm at the Lord Roberts pub on Broad Street (NG1 3AN).
Friday the Manchester Bi Boardgames meet is on at 6pm at the LGBT Foundation, 5 Richmond Street. They mostly play modern games (think Fluxx or Ticket To Ride) as opposed to chess or Monopoly but bring what you fancy playing and see who wants to join in or turn up and play something new. There’s Bi Yoga for an hour at the Birmingham LGBT Centre from 5.30pm. And Bi Wessex meet in Southampton from 7pm at Cafe Thrive, 18, Hanover Buildings, Southampton, SO14 1JX.
Saturday sees the main day of Student Pride weekend in London including a bisexuality panel, with journalist Nichi Hodgson and Jen Yockney MBE, convenor of the UK’s oldest bi group BiPhoria.
Elsewhere on Saturday there’s a day-long LGBT History Month event at the Senedd in Cardiff. The latter has a packed programme and there will be a table with resources from Bisexual History Project, and a talk about 17th century bisexual poet Katherine Philips as part of the day’s programme. Please do send us a writeup of the event if you attend.
There’s also an LGBT History Month afternoon of talks in Bristol – again there will Bisexual History Project materials – more on that here.
Never been to a bi group before?
- For the coffee & pub type meetups – like in Nottingham or Brighton – try Hannah’s guide here.
- Gaming meetups like those in Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham are good for gamers and making casual acquaintance friends, but serious bi talk is tricky while you work out which move your character should make next.
- For the talky space meetups – like Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow or Edinburgh, in community centre spaces – there’s Jen’s guide here.
Here are our UK & Ireland listings of local bi groups and regular meetups.
