Bi Scotland just keeps growing
Members of Bi Scotland were out in force at Scotland's LGBT Pride event, Pride Scotia, which this year was in Glasgow. After various politicians (including out bi Green MSP Patrick Harvie) addressed the crowd, the march moved off through the heart of Glasgow's Saturday shopping crowds. Bi Scotland were carrying their brand new banner - luckily its waterproof properties weren't needed, though some windproofing would have been useful on an unseasonably cold and breezy day.
Bi Scotland's stall in the Pride community fair after the march attracted potential newcomers to the group, as well as spreading propaganda about BiCon and BCN. After the fair, Bi Scotland members indulged in an unhealthy amount of eating, drinking and dancing at the Pride club night at the Arches.
Celebrate Bisexuality 2004
Bi Scotland is planning to mark International Celebrate Bisexuality Day (23 September) with an all-day event on Saturday 25 September at the Edinburgh LGBT Centre for Health and Wellbeing in Howe Street. Plans are at an early stage, but anyone who is bi or questioning their sexuality will be welcome to attend. For more information nearer the time, contact either Bi Scotland (glasgow@bi.org) or the Centre (http://www.lgbthealth.org.uk). [for those of you who are at BiCon - see the special issue of BCN for latest news on this - Jen]
National Network AGM
Bi Scotland held its first ever Annual General Meeting at the Glasgow LGBT Centre on Saturday 3 July. The new committee plans to build on its work with Stonewall's Scottish community development project, Beyond Barriers, to find new ways of reaching out to the bi community through the existing Bi Glasgow and Bi Edinburgh groups, and aims to set up new initiatives in the rest of Scotland.
For contact details of the Glasgow and Edinburgh groups, or the Bi Scotland network, see listings p11.
