I think I'm bi...
...what do I do now?
A new guide to coming out & bisexuality in the UK has been launched entitled "Both Directions"
Subtitled "Finding the UK Bi Community" it is recommended reading - whether you're coming out as bi, have just discovered that a partner or friend is bisexual, or want a bi resource for an LGBT group or outreach stall.
Download it today. Over 3,700 people have this year!
Were you there?
This year's BiCon group photo is available for viewing or download (on most browsers you can do this by right-clicking and choose "Save image") here.
If you need a replacement copy of the BiCon Survey it is here. Post it back to us at BRG, Box 101, c/o LGF, 105-107 Princess St Manchester M1 6DD.
MySpace, Facebook, LiveJournal...
You can help spread the word about BCN if you use social networking sites by joining our groups: MySpace group; Facebook group; Livejournal group.
Activists Do It Together
The 8th UK bi activism conference will be held in Manchester this Autumn. These are gatherings of people who run local groups, work on challenging misrepresentation of bisexuality in the press, create resources like Both Directions and so forth. It's not a beginners event - if you're just coming out as bi or looking for social and support spaces you'd be much better off with the BiFest events or BiCon.
Further details - contact BCN and we will pass your details on to the organisers.
Lobby Stonewall
Bisexual Action have had enough of moaning about Stonewall - Britain's biggest LGB lobbying organisation - publishing reports and recommendations that seek only to change things for lesbians and gay men. As Stonewall believe the way to change minds is through sending postcards, they've produced a postcard to lobby Stonewall to be more bi-inclusive.
The postcard is designed to be printed double-sided - print one side, flip over and print the other side so one side has the "tackling bisexual invisibility" logo and the other has the message to Stonewall.
Download here, print double-sided onto card, and distribute / mail in.
Festivals Breaking Out All Over
Day-long events for bis and their friends are now happening in no fewer than four cities each year around the UK. Brighton, London, Manchester and Sheffield have all held "BiFest" events, and smaller "Celebrate Bisexuality" events - with speakers, discussion workshops, creative spaces, dancing and performance. As community led events, they are in part what you make them - so volunteer and help shape them according to what you want out of a bisexual day!
Find out more about them from www.bifest.org
In The Army
The Bisexual Recruitment Army wants you as a new recruit. They've got a banner and they know how to wave it on parade(s), and a silly website to boot.
It's all a much more light-hearted approach to bi awareness than BCN tends to indulge in, but we love it.
Outreach?
If you're planning to do an outreach stall to raise awareness of bisexuality and the bi community, or want lighter reading than Both Directions for your community centre information rack, get in touch with us about a new glossy A4-folded-in-thirds leaflet introducing the UK bi scene, BiFests, BiCon, BCN and local and national groups which has been produced by BiPhoria.
