BiMate: Marcus Morgan
Which Olympic sport (current or wished for)
could you represent your country in?
Hmm... The 100 Metres Freestyle Synchronised
Plene. If you don't know what I'm talking about
then I'll explain later...
What's the best collective noun for bisexuals?
Why, a "bitch of bisexuals" of course...
What's your favourite film?
Well, I don't have a single favourite. I have two:
The City Of Lost Children for the richness of fantasy, and Chasing Amy for
being wonderful and
a fairly realistic bisexual film.
When did you know you were bisexual?
When I was a teenager I was gay, and while I was
a student I began to suspect I might have become
bisexual. But actually categorically 'know' I was
bisexual. Hmm, I'd have to say during my first
sexual experience with a woman, because even up
to that point I was terrified I might not be - and by
then I had all these cool bisexual friends!
What's your favourite sexual memory?
That's an impossible question to answer. I've been
honoured to have enjoyed sex with some very very
wonderful people, and to single them one out
would be unfair. But in general terms, let's see -
the best ones have involved: cars, staircases,
parties, old friends, summer mornings, drag,
rubber, strangers, and more laughter than you'd
think seemly.
What's your favourite thing about being bi?
What, apart from knowing we're morally superior,
the next evolutionary step, the lost tribe of Israel
and all beautiful? laughs Ignore that. It's being
part of a sexuality that is open - not closed. And
that the community tries to be that too.
What's your favourite sex accessory?
The human brain. It has two things people forget
to use in sex - sense of humour & innate cunning...
Who do you respect most in the world?
Ah, now that would be telling. Well, obviously it
would be telling because it'd be in answer to the
question, but what I mean is I'm not telling. My
secret...
What / who has inspired you the most?
Continuously being told as a school child that I
would never achieve anything, hold down a job or
gain the respect of my peers. Then again, maybe
they meant 'piers', it was Bournemouth...
Which historical person would you most like
to meet?
Oh finally, an easy one - my great-great-greatgreat-
grandchildren!
What makes you smile?
I love one liners and snappy comebacks - I'm
currently addicted to "I'd rather put my foot in the
bacon slicer"
What is your most unlikely-to-be-fulfilled sexual
fantasy?
The one with the angels, demons and transgendered
clones of myself in a rubber padded cell....
What should people try?
To calm down, not take it personally, listen, stand
on their own two feet, have a laugh occasionally, get
out more and above all, stop fucking whining that
they're getting sex but not the right/enough sex, and
above all not to accept meaningless advice from
short balding bisexuals...
What are you most proud/ashamed of?
I'm sorry - this answer has been withheld due to the
delicate nature of BCN readers' moral constitutions.
Suffice to say the two answers included references
to entirely non-sexual and non-bisexual orientated
activities of a rather normal nature, one romantic
and one career based.
What about your life would most surprise your 16
year old self?
I'm still alive and I have more than three friends. I
have a partner, a job, I live in a housing co-op. I'm
not paranoid about my appearance. I've not had
surgery. Hell, he'd just either be stunned completely
into a coma or refuse to believe it was me at all!
Please write a mini autobiog, things you'd like
BCN readers to know about you, e.g. you might
give your age, location, bi community stuff,
current/past relationships etc. Say about 50-150
words.
Marcus Morgan finally tricked the LL&G Switchboard
into giving him the details of the London Bi Group in early 1991, and by
December had found
the courage to go along. It was their Xmas party
which left a very profound impression on him.
Probably due to the fishnet body stockings.
After attending the Norwich BiCon he went a bit
funny, and woke up years later to find he'd been
chair of the LBG, wholesale manager for a
fetishwear company, one of the founders and coorganisers of SM Bisexuals,
an SM rights activist,
best man at two bisexual weddings, a sex columnist
for a national magazine, a HIV educator and
Plenary Wrangler. He claims it was something he
drank... He now lives in a housing co-op in the East
End who let him run all the workshops he wants.
And he has more than three friends. Hurrah!
