Bi Visibility Day diary 2019
The 21st Bi Visibility Day arrives this September 23 – 20 years on from the inaugural International Celebrate Bisexuality Day in 1999.
This year there are events in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Kyrgystan, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the USA and here in the UK. Chances are more countries will be added to that list in the coming days – there are usually a rash of extra events announced at the last minute.
Among the more notable events around the world, the Toronto Bi Arts Festival stretches across a week of events, Paris, Viborg and West Hollywood each have a bi pride march, and Berlin has its annual Bi Camp.
In the Philippines, Manilla has its first ever Bi Conference – with a programme that reads a lot like the early UK BiCons. Madrid hosts a talk about the history of Spain’s bi movement: a key step in a movement maturing is surely shen you can reflect on your history like that!
Unlike in the days of President Obama there isn’t a White House reception on bi issues. That’s perhaps for the best: whatever would Trump say in his message of support?
